This past Monday March 31st was the deadline to
sign up for healthcare in order to avoid fines towards next year’s taxes. It is
quite interesting to see that the amount of people signed up for healthcare that
previously had none exceeded the amount they estimated would sign up.
As with every new law there are a few kinks to be worked out.
It was reported that there will be more time given to people that reported
technical difficulties signing up for health insurance. Another kind of kink
was that people who previously had health insurance were aggravated with
changes to their plans whether it was price increases or plan cancellations.
Future efforts are being made to make enrolling an easier
effort and to enroll more young Americans which are understood to make the new
law a success.
This article was informative and avoided biased
language. It stated many opinions
towards “Obamacare” then informed the audience of the statistical information.
With this information implementations could be made that the new healthcare
plan is a great step towards making sure everyone belonging to this government
is taken care of.
Community is something I feel needs to be
addressed by the government. The feeling of belonging and caring for one’s
neighbor has been lost in the race to the top to be the richest or most famous
person of all time. I will never pretend to know much about politics, but I do
agree with President Obama that ‘Change is hard. Fixing what is broken is hard.’
